**A one in a million baby girl**
Alex and Mark started trying to conceive in January 2012. They knew the road ahead was going to be bumpy because Alex had PCOS but little could they imagine the journey they would go on to bring their beautiful baby girl Matilda in to the world.
In 2012 they were referred to a private fertility clinic who discovered that Alex not only had problems with ovulation but her husband Mark had a low and poor quality sperm count because Mark underwent chemotherapy for neuroblastoma when he was a baby. Their only option was IVF. In April 2014 they started their first round and they were on stimming medication for a lengthy period of time in an attempt to get Alex’s follicles to mature. At the end Alex had only grown one follicle and it was less than minimum size. They met with a team who recommended IVM as an alternative.
Shortly after this a girlfriend mentioned her friend parents had managed to adopt a child in the UK so Alex and Mark moved to Bristol in December 2014. During their time there they underwent two rounds of donor embryo transfers in Prague and unfortunately lost their two baby angels and 6 and 7 weeks respectively.
They moved back to Australia and, after meeting with the IVF team once again and hearing of their limited options, they decided that it may not happen for them and decided to take a big break and focus on their relationship and their lives together.
On the 30th of November 2018 Alex took a pregnancy test and discovered she was pregnant with Matilda. A pregnancy, they were told, had an almost one in a million chance of occuring naturally. That day changed their lives forever.
